From workflow to PDF.
And back again.

Create, fill and OCR PDFs in any n8n workflow, send them as tracked links, and start the next workflow when someone reads them.

Two nodes.
Both directions.

One listens to your readers. One does the PDF work. No HTTP requests to build.

Apdf Trigger
Starts a workflow when someone
opens the PDF reads a page submits a form leaves a comment downloads it and more
Apdf
Does the PDF work
PDF from HTML Fill forms OCR scans Merge & split Tracking links Reader analytics and more

Only serious readers
start a run.

Set a condition in the trigger, like how much of the document someone read. Skimmers never reach your workflow, and every run arrives with the reader’s name and email.

Your AI Agent,
now with PDF tools.

Attach the Apdf node as a tool. The model picks the action and fills it in.

Fills any form
Even when the fields are called Text12.
Knows your readers
Who opened the proposal, and how far they got.

Six workflows
to build this week.

Branches, code, AI and your own database, put to work on your PDFs.

Any PDF form, filled from your data

AI

A model maps your customer record onto the form, whatever its fields are called.

Every reader event in your database

Self-hosted

Opens, pages, comments and forms, stored next to your product data.

Scans into your vector store

RAG

Scanned contracts become text your AI agent can search.

A reading report every Monday

Schedule

Who opened which proposal, and how far they got, in two lines per deal.

Lost deal, links off

CRM

Last quarter’s pricing stops opening the moment the deal is lost.

Form answers, checked first

Code

A few lines of JavaScript before anything lands in Airtable.

Cloud or self-hosted.
Installed in a minute.

PDF actions work on every plan. The trigger needs Pro or Business, and every new account starts with a Pro trial.

n8n Cloud
  1. 1 Open the nodes panel
  2. 2 Search for Apdf
  3. 3 Click Install
Self-hosted
  1. 1 Open Settings → Community nodes
  2. 2 Install the npm package
npm @apdf/n8n-nodes-apdf

Then, on both: paste an API token from your Apdf dashboard into the Apdf API credentials.

Verified node
Apdf on n8n

The trigger, the PDF actions and reader analytics, ready in the nodes panel.

Open in n8n

n8n node, answered

Yes. It is a verified community node, so it runs on n8n Cloud and on self-hosted instances. An instance owner or admin installs it once from the nodes panel; on a self-hosted instance you can also install @apdf/n8n-nodes-apdf under Settings → Community nodes.
PDF operations, documents, tracking links and analytics work on every plan, including the free one. The Apdf Trigger and the Automation resource create automations, which come with the Pro and Business plans; each active workflow with an Apdf Trigger counts as one active automation. Every new account starts with a Pro trial, no card required.
Heavy operations, such as Create PDF from HTML, Compress and the OCR operations, always run as jobs and return a job ID. Set their Webhook URL to {{ $execution.resumeUrl }} and follow with a Wait node that resumes on a webhook call with the POST method, or poll Job → Check Status. Result files expire after an hour, so pass them on in the same run.
For reading the text of a digital PDF, often yes. Apdf covers what it does not: OCR for scans, PDFs from HTML or Office files, reading and filling form fields, merging, splitting, compressing and securing files, and tracking who reads the PDF you send.
Yes. The same triggers and actions are available in the Zapier app, through the REST API with automations and webhooks, and to AI agents through the MCP server.

Build the PDF.
Hear who reads it.
